Hair care in Dharwad

Dharwad sits on the Deccan plateau in North Karnataka, twinned with Hubballi and only marginally different in climate: hot dry summers, a moderate monsoon, and a dry cool winter. It is generally reckoned a little greener and slightly milder than Hubballi.

Where supply comes from a borewell, expect harder water than treated surface supply. Mineral deposits build on hair with every wash, producing dullness, a coated feel and poor shampoo lather.

For a few months the problem inverts. Humidity swells the hair shaft, lifts the cuticle and produces frizz and tangling rather than dryness.

• Seal damp hair with a little oil or leave-in before it dries.
• Dry hair and scalp properly rather than tying it up damp.
• Detangle gently with a wide-tooth comb, from the ends up.
• Keep your washing frequency rather than reducing it.
